ripping the heads off all my barbie dolls

08:03

It's been nearly 2 months. It may look like I've neglected this pastime of mine, but the number of drafts wanting to be published but are being denied the privilege, is, quite simply, enervating. I have changed drastically as a person in the space of nearly 2 months (not physically, unfortunately), due to some exasperating circumstances, and the initial desire for blogging wasn't there. The free time that summer gives, coupled with the undeniable fact that I've missed blogging, has lead me to writing this post today.

A few changes have been made. For instance, I have no phone. This was a matter of consequence, rather than choice, but it hasn't been as rough as I initially expected. This does mean that I have been cut off from social media indefinitely. This leaves me with a lot of free time, as you would expect. I have channelled most of this free energy (or maybe I should say rebooted energy? Social media did tend to be draining), into doing s t u f f. "Stuff like what?" you may ask. Well, stuff like the piano I so nearly quit playing, and the art that was slowly becoming irrelevant, also the photography that I promised myself to improve in, as well as the movies and tv shows to catch up on, and the endless amount of books that need to be read. All this stuff to do is actually quite exciting rather than daunting, as it once was.

Ok, so this outfit was put together on Sunday evening after I came upon this slightly perfect sorta emerald/turquoise pinafore dress in my mother's closet.

Mothers' closets are the best. Rummaging through them is like treasure hunting. I routinely check my mother's closet because something I may have skimmed over yesterday, could catch my eye today. That's what happened with this dress.

t-shirt - penneys/primark
pinafore - momma's closet
socks - new look
shoes - asos
This outfit makes me feel cute beyond words. I've been looking for a pinafore for what feels like forever, and although I didn't know at the time, this was the pinafore of my dreams. The colour is my favourite, I'm envisioning some major colour blocking with this dress. I also can't wait to kit it out with badges and brooches.

bag - my sister's; some boutique in town

shoes - nike air force 1

bag - my other sister's; penneys/primark
I'm super excited to give this lil piece a new home and a new lease of life! I can already feel the side glances and glares and hear the whispered (but not quietly enough) "what the eff is she wearing".
 I'm so here for it

I leave you with a slightly-less-awkward-than-last-time gif of me with my two favourite things - my pinafore and bubbles.

.......................................................................

Regarding the exasperating (and quite serious) circumstance(s) stated above, a lot of irl people are expecting my next couple of months to suck, which has made me determined to have the most bomb ass summer/rest of year. I enjoy seeing people scratch their heads when I don't live up to their presupposed assumptions about me.

Summer officially starts in a week for me, and then I'll be preparing to enter my last year of secondary school and making ~real world~ decisions, exciting. I have planned to make the most of a less stress free summer.
So far I've got a volunteering job at my local arts and theatre centre,
Elizabeth and I are planning to meetup over summer,
and I have my trip to America.
Those three things alone have made my summer 10 times greater than it may have ever been. I'm currently trying to get my mother on board the prospect of me doing a colour dash in Dublin for charity and there's also a probable camping trip in the works. Therefore, I'm looking forward to next upcoming months.
